Cold Sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and first appear three to ten days following initial exposure. The virus then remains in the body and can be triggered by stress, exposure to sun/wind, menstruation, a depressed immune system, fever or other viral infections.

Put one drop of Geranium (or your chosen oil) on a cotton bud and apply it directly to the sore, if possible as soon as it is expected. Repeat every day. You can also massage the whole of the body including the face and the neck with these essential oils combined in a carrier oil to help your body fight the virus.
